What Makes Us Successful?

Have you ever heard someone say "it's not personal, it's business?".

This statement suggests that we can compartmentalize who we are, and, in some cases, our integrity. For example, do you remember in the movie "God Father" the scene when Al Pacino said just that? Did you believe him?

You can't compartmentalize who you are, your decisions come from your character/integrity, and that starts very early in life.

We create who we are through out thoughts, which then become our words, then our actions, then our habits, and our habits then become our character.

Often, in my world, I will hear someone say, "I will always be fat."

It's like telling a child he or she is stupid. If that child hears it enough, they begin to believe it, then live it. "Why bother, I will always be fat, my parents were fat."

When a client comes to me to lose weight, and they tell me they are fat, that started early in life. My job then becomes teaching my new client how to create healthy lifestyle, but also how to, in that process, begin to recreate his or her personal image.

Have you ever watched "Big Loser?"

"Indeed, these contestants lose A LOT of weight at the end of the show, and it appears that their body is transformed from an obese person to a fully-trained athlete. But that's the problem. They trained like athletes on the ranch...and that's what they got. Guess what? After the show they went back to the "real world" of an average human being (i.e. NOT AN OLYMPIC TYPE ATHLETE.) many Biggest Loser contestants have regained the weight they lost...some as much as 100 lbs gained back. They go back to who they are, who they see themselves as." Do you know someone who has had Bariatric Surgery for weight loss?

Dr. Andrei Keidar, of Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva, Israel, and his colleagues, examined data from 443 patients who underwent LSGs from the same surgical team, between 2006 and 2013.

Researchers found that while excess weight loss was at 77 percent after a year, it decreased to 56 percent after five years. Diabetes remission was promising at 51 percent after a year, but only 20 percent after five years.

Franklin Covey, author of "7 Habits of Highly Effective People" Lists his first "Inside Out" as "Change starts From Within"

The slogan I used on my business cards in the 1990's was "If You Believe, You will Achieve"

Create your new mantra today, not tomorrow,

This change is not about character and integrity, but something just as important and that will effect both - self love.

"I am beautiful, I am healthy, I am loved"
